Water you looking at?? — Hopefully not hard water stains or lime-scale build up!!

Hey guys are you enjoying this spring weather as much as I am?? I know that along with spring weather also comes the spring clean-up inside and outside. Call me crazy (most that know me, already do) but I really do enjoy cleaning!! It’s relaxing and after all the dust has been cleaned up and cobwebs knocked down its refreshing to sit back and relax! I love being able to sit outside on my deck listening to Maroon 5 and enjoy the sunshine!!

But this spring while you start your clean-up look a little closer at the shower fixtures and faucets, and if you notice white spots also known as calcification left by hard water don’t fret! There is an easy fix!! Simply by installing a water softener.

Let’s break it down, water softening as per wikipedia;

Water softening is the removal of calcium, magnesium, and certain other metal cations in hard water. The resulting soft water is more compatible with soap and extends the lifetime of plumbing. Water softening is usually achieved using ion-exchange resins.

So, not only does water softening remove the calcium but it also has other added benefits!! Some other benefits of water softening are; smoother, softer skin and hair. Cutting back on soap and other detergents by more than 1/2. Plus you will have brighter, softer, longer lasting clothing. As well as appliances that last longer, and run more efficiently and less wear and tear on plumbing.

So you may be asking what does this all mean for spring cleaning?? Like I said, I do personally enjoy cleaning… But then again I don’t have a lot of extra time. I am involved in a lot of extra activities so I am always looking to get the most of my day. And believe me I would rather spend time with family and friends rather than cleaning. But with my Evolve series water softener I don’t spend hours scrubbing away at hard water stains. I also have cut my soaps and cleaning products in 1/2 which = more money in my wallet. By not having to scrub away water marks or soap scum in the showers and not having hard water rings in the toilets it also makes my cleaning fast and enjoyable (but that might just be the Adam Levine playing in the background).

So now I am sure you are thinking to yourself, you don’t think you can afford a water softener. But I bet you would be surprised at how much time and money a water softener can save you in the long run. Plus, you don’t have to buy the water softener, you can rent one. Not sure where to start, give me a call or send me an email and I will help! So wat-er  you waiting for??

Thanks for stopping by!!

Happy World Water Day!! — A GREAT day to kick off a new blog!

Even though the Dominican Republic is surrounded by water, they still don’t have safe drinking water everywhere. Did you know 11% of the world’s population do not have safe water to drink and that this, coupled with poor sanitation, results in 2,000 children dying every day.

Hello World! I am Nicole, the daughter in Miller & SONS  Salt & Water Conditioning, Inc. Yes, I know I may be left out of the business name but I don’t let anyone forget that I am still a big apart of the family & the business. My grandfather started out in business back in 1971, as a way to spend more time with his children after a devastating house fire which resulted in the loss of his son, Doug. In future posts I will explain the Miller & Sons story and what it’s like to be in the family business.

I am not really sure why but I have been dragging my feet in starting this blog… For one thing it is hard to make the time and figure out what to say to the WHOLE wide world, so bear with me as I start this new venture! Hopefully over the next few months to come you will learn about my love of  water and why I am so passionate about it and hopefully I will teach you a thing or two and become a more interesting blogger :)

I decided to start this blog today because it is in fact March 22: World Water Day, and what better day to start out a blog about water?? Did you know the average person uses 80 gallons of water per day?? For a family of 4 that’s 320 gallons of water a day, 2,240 per week and 116,480 gallons a year! You can significantly decrease that amount without spending any money!  Simply by turning the water off while brushing your teeth and shaving, running only full loads of laundry, and by taking shorter showers. By decreasing the time you are in the shower by 5 minutes you can save 20 gallons of water per shower!! Do you have a dripping faucet? If so you could be wasting 20 gallons of water per day!! By making these minor changes in your everyday lifestyle you could save water and even save money, and who isn’t looking for ways to save money these days??

Hopefully you aren’t spending all weekend doing laundry & cleaning.  I know I need to try and fit that in between volunteering at the Easter Egg-Stravaganza and family dinner!!  Thanks for making it through my first post with me!! Have a great weekend!
